Chicago Transit Authority – Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project
The $530 Million Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project involves major renovations and structural upgrades to all 18 stations along the CTA Brown Line. Originally 30%-40% over budget, the CTA enlisted CCS to review bids and review various cost reduction options to bring the project back on budget and facilitate re-bids. CCS made recommendations to improve bidder response, which involved operational, procurement, legal and specification issues. CCS also re-estimated cost estimates prior to re-bid and maintained a watching brief on current market conditions.
Details of the improvements include:
- Longer platforms that accommodate longer trains
- Accessibility for everyone
- Modern stations with more conveniences
