Memorial Medical Center – Campus Expansion Project
CCS provided cost management services directly to Memorial Health System, including cost estimates at multiple phases of the design.
The Medical Center expansion project that will offer patients enhanced privacy and safety, and strengthen the Center’s relationship with the SIU School of Medicine and other regional healthcare academic partners. The expansion project involves the following:
New Patient Tower
153,456 SF new 3-story Patient Care Tower that will add 114 new private patient rooms on top of an existing 2-story section of the existing hospital. Each floor will feature 38 private patient rooms, improve access to patient medications and supplies, and include dedicated space for families and visitors. Support space on each new unit will include large supply and equipment storage rooms along with accommodations for interdisciplinary collaboration and teaching.
Surgery Center Expansion
63,498 SF expansion of the surgery center to provide new operating rooms and additional space for pre- and post-procedure services. The expansion will be constructed on two levels: the lower level in the area currently occupied by the Wedeberg Conference Center and a new preoperative area just off the main lobby on the first floor. The expansion will create six new operating rooms, 23 PACU rooms, 30 holding bays, expanded surgical support spaces and a new outpatient waiting area.
Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation
This new facility will serve as a premier teaching facility in Central Illinois, featuring a large flexible conference center, surgical skills lab, and a variety of simulation labs. The simulation labs include a standard patient care operating room, intensive care labs, exam rooms, and an emergency department that prepares healthcare students for the evolving healthcare industry. The Center will also feature formal and informal lecture halls for instruction and a 300-seat conference center with state-of-the-art communication tools.
Renovated Hospital Lobby
The main entrance, circle drive, and lobby will be renovated to improve “front door” access. This will accommodate increased vehicle traffic, improve pedestrian safety, and create a more pleasant look in this area.
New Central Plant
Project will also include a new 4,500 GSF central plant facility. Construction will be conducted in several phases, with all phases to be complete by early 2016.
CCS reconciled the costs with the Construction Manager and saved the Owner several million dollars as a result.
