National Gallery of Art – West Building Facade Repairs

National Gallery Facade

Washington, DC

Repairs to the marble facade of the West Building, which has been showing signs of aging including cracks, spalling, and separation of pieces of stone. Work will involve a survey of existing joint conditions, caulking and re-pointing affected areas, and cleaning the exterior of the entire building. Project also includes an evaluation of severe buckling of concrete and cracking of facade stones at the NE corner of the building, and structural problems at the North Portico, with repair recommendations for both.
