Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management Building
This project began with the idea of creating a new state-of-the-art Business Management facility of approximately 350,000 GSF standing next to the existing James L. Allen Center for executive education. The goal being to turn this entire complex into a 530,000 GSF world-renowned lakefront learning facility.
CCS International, Inc. were selected by the design team at the recommendation of Northwestern because of our knowledge and prior experience working on their campus, as well as our local knowledge of the area.
We began working on this project at the Programmatic Phase of design, assisting the Northwestern team and the Design team in reviewing cost, constructability issues and various design options to create the experience Northwestern were looking for. During several months, and various iterations a final concept and program was developed. From here we continued to work with the team reviewing schematic, design development and construction documents to ensure that the budget, schedule and design stayed in line. Our cost management services were seen to be a valuable service and guide to ensure that fare open and honest dialogue could be had between design team, ownership and construction manager alike relative to cost. Working together, we provided assistance and guidance at each phase of design with value engineering support, constructability review and program management support.
The final design was completed and now is set to house a 425,000 GSF four story facility to house 1,500 students annually, with over 200 faculty members and between 100-200 administrative team members. Whose offices will also be located within the walls of this building.
The ground breaking ceremony occurred in Nov 2013 and the facility is due to open in Fall 2016.
